However, the criticism came just as fast, with detractors accusing Reese of tarnishing her image and distracting from her accomplishments as a basketball player. “She’s a role model to so many young girls. This isn’t the kind of behavior they need to see,” one commenter argued.

Others went as far as to claim that Reese’s actions could impact her brand and future endorsement deals.

The video has reignited a broader conversation about the double standards female athletes face. While male athletes are often praised for showing their personalities off the field, women like Reese frequently find themselves under a microscope, with their every move scrutinized.

Reese, known for her resilience and strong will, has not yet addressed the backlash directly. But given her track record of standing firm against critics, it’s likely she’ll continue to embrace her individuality without apology.

Angel Reese issues thinly-veiled dig at WNBA with Chicago Sky promise

Angel Reese appeared to take a dig at the WNBA and some of its teams for how they take care of their players.

Reese, the Chicago Sky star, is currently preparing for Unrivaled’s inaugural season in Florida, playing for Rose BC alongside Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Lexie Hull, Azura Stevens, and Brittney Sykes. Although Unrivaled is an upstart league, the league is able to provide adequately for its players, which seemingly the WNBA has failed to do.

Reese was quick to make note of how Unrivaled, the league created by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Naphessa Collier, has given the players what they require every season. In doing so, the 22-year-old seemingly sent a jab the WNBA’s way for its efforts, or lack thereof.

On X, Reese wrote with a crying and a heart emoji: “We get to workout, use the weight room, create new bonds/friendships, get treatment, get massages, use the sauna, getting 2 meals a day, and then a facial before I leave for the day??? yeah i love it here @Unrivaledwbb.”

The 22-year-old also added more to her post, aiming at potential stars looking for a new home in the WNBA offseason and looking to play with her on the Sky. “oh & trust me, a lot of these things will be in Chicago this year as well! @FREE AGENTS,” Reese added.

Lastly, Reese claimed her time with Unrivaled was second to none. “i don’t event think i listed everything but baby i could be here forevaaaa,” she wrote along with a crying emoji, showing how much she is enjoying her time in Florida and the facilities Unrivaled has offered its players.

Recently, Unrivaled revealed just what the league had to offer. In the main venue, there a large LED boards, a rail cam, a weight facility and an area where the players could ready, courtesy of Sephora, one of the league’s sponsors, according to the Sports Business Journal.

Additionally, the venue seats fewer than 1,000 peple but it allows the seats to be be closer to the action, adding to the feeling of immersive basketball. There are also rooms for family, skin care, potential podcasts and interviews while also having a 3,000-square-foot weight room and six update locker rooms, one for each team.

There are also many other amenities available to players, including a power shakes before and after each practice and game. Unrivaled’s dedication to the wellbeing of its players also is being mirrored by some of the teams in the league, including the Sky and Los Angeles Sparks.
