‘General Hospital’: Will Sonny & Carly Get Back Together? Laura Wright Spills

Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) are one of General Hospital‘s most notable supercouples. Through the decades, these two iconic characters have had quite the on-again, off-again relationship. Their characters have not been romantic for quite some time, but could that change soon?

Wright sat down with Benard, her longtime costar, for a new edition of his State of Mind podcast. The subject of Sonny and Carly getting back together came up as they were discussing Carly and Jason (Steve Burton). Benard asked if Carly and Jason had ever had sex, which prompted Wright to reply, “Not with me.” She added, “I missed out on that.” The actress then explained that Sarah Brown’s version of Carly was once intimate with Jason.

That’s when Wright brought up Sonny and Carly reuniting in the future. “People keep wondering if they’re going to put us back together, and I get that all the time, and I just think it’s always available, but we’re not there yet,” Wright said.

Benard agreed with her about the relationship status between their characters. Even when they’re not in a romantic relationship, Sonny and Carly have remained connected. Now that Michael is back in town, there’s certainly a lot to discuss between them.

Benard was a little jokester and said that he thought she was talking about Carly and Jason. “He does that all the time,” an exasperated Wright said.

The GH stars have worked together for 20 years ever since Wright joined the ABC soap in 2005. “One thing about Laura Wright, I’m going to give it up right now about her as an actress. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: If I were a director, she’s a director’s dream. She’ll do anything. She’ll do it this way. She’ll do it that way. She does it anyway. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her…yell at anybody. It’s always professional,” Benard gushed about Wright.
